There is a manifestation of elegance reflected in the work of Erik Rico from a free abstract as a line or sketch, to a composition surreal through nuances of chiaroscuro, lines of light, even deep absolute black as a metaphor for good and evil, for the absence and presence of non-existent and deformed entities, for deformed and decomposed portraits, for death and "non-identity" as compositional element.
Furthermore, the sensitivity and creation of spaces includes in his work the antithesis of what nice and functional as a work canvas, exalting "beauty" in destruction and abandonment, which together speak of the fusion between them in shadows where emotions and feelings are spilled.
Details of Erik Rico's work transmit a decomposition of reality, his artistic proposal starts as a result of the satisfaction of the soul, by exhibiting its internal monsters, manipulating them, transforming them and living with them.
In the pieces of this 38-year-old artist, non-existent creations of non-places can be seen as experimentation.
Erik Rico is currently part of Circle Lab, in Mexico City, so we invite you to get to know her a little better through Bio Fahrenheit.
