Virtuosos on the strings: from Van Halen to Clapton

Yesterday, Eddie Van Halen, mythical guitar player and founder of the Van Halen group, died at age 65 of throat cancer; his death shocked the world of music, but especially to lovers of strings.

With his characteristic and powerful solos, Eddie entered different lists of the virtuous of the six-string instrument, including the one we share below:

Jimi Hendrix

El guitar player The world's most famous left-hander, who with little more than five years of career, managed to cement a solid foundation to be considered the best guitarist of all time.

His wild distortions and exquisite playing elicited sensations that no one else could.

Brian May

Who has not enjoyed the voice of Mercury accompanied by the strings of May? The also astrophysicist has delighted millions of ears with his iconic solos such as that of "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Eddie Van Halen

Eddie together with his brother Alex they formed the group Van Halen without knowing that they would become pioneers of heavy metal.

The guitarist used a technique called tapping consisting of use the fingers of both hands to press the strings only on the neck, which led him to be inducted into the lists of the best guitarists.   

The solo of "Eruption", from the homonymous album, is considered, by specialized magazines, as one of the best in history.
