Versatile writer and genius of science fiction literature, Edmond hamilton was one of the most outstanding minds of the legendary magazine Weird tales -publication pulp American fantasy and horror where great authors wrote, such as HP Lovecraft–.

From Ohio, United States, Edmond Moore Hamilton was born on October 21, 1904 and gained popularity in the literary world in the middle of twentieth century, after his debut in 1926 with the story "The Monster God of Mamurth".

From 1926 to 1948, Hamilton published a total of 79 short stories in Weird tales, for which he became a fundamental figure of the science fiction.

To the point that the writer Jack williamson he dedicated a few lines to him in his autobiography Wonder's child"In my field, Ed Hamilton and Hank Kuttner, and more recently Bob Silverberg, are the writers who made up the group that took on the science fiction genre early in their careers.; then they used this in a more conscious way in the 'literary' field, therefore, this work was more admired by critics ”.

"But really, the writing they did first in their careers was deservedly popular with science fiction fans, who evidently found these works 'serious' worthy enough to be read," he contrasted.

In 1933, Edmond won the award for literature fantastic Julio Verne for the story "The Island of Unreason." After the Great Depression stage, he directed his writing to the stories of detectives and murderers, close to the so-called Novelty.

Hamilton's work reached France, Arabia and Germany with the animated adaptation of the franchise Captain Future, created in collaboration with Mort weisinger. Same as TOEI Animation resumed in 1978.

The Hamilton stories They are characterized by presenting large space scenarios full of mystery, horror and fantasy, with which the imagination of the youngest readers took off on each page.

Later Isaac Asimov selected three of his stories for the anthology The golden age of science fiction: "The man who evolved", "The cursed galaxy" and "Involution".

In 1963, Roger Corman shot the B movie, The man with the X-Ray eyes, as a tribute to Edmond Hamilton and his contemporaries. The author passed away on February 1, 1977 at the age of 72.
