The sophisticated fantasy world of Kentaro Miura

El manga artist Kentaro Miura is known throughout the world for having given life to Berserk, medieval history-fantastic which has sold more than 50 million copies.

this fantasy story dark It first appeared in 1989 and has since become a phenomenon. 

El comic, set in a universe gloomy and apocalyptic, tells the story of Guts, a lone warrior hunted by evil forces seeking revenge on his former master.

Such was the impact Berserk It also had two adaptations as an anime series, in 1997 and 2016, as well as a trilogy of animated films and three video games.

But the architect of all this was Kentaro Miura, an extraordinary Japanese artist about whom little is known. Their Illustrations are striking for how detailed and beautiful they are, as well as having an outstanding sophistication.

His drawings, done in pen and ink for most of his career, have been compared to the paintings of the master of the Renacimiento Dutch Hieronymus Bosch due to its complexity.

Miura's imaginary worlds tend toward the hellish, with moments of the sublime, but the vast majority are made up of corpses, skeletons, monsters and, in one of the pivotal moments in the story, a gigantic and sinister eclipse.

Kentaro Miura was born on July 11, 1966 in Chiba, a city east of Tokyo. His parents were artists, so for him this universe, that of imagination and beauty, was not unknown.

He created his first manga for his classmates when he was 10 years old and won his first award when he was just a teenager.

Kentaro Miura, who died last year at the age of 56, dedicated his entire life to creating extraordinary stories and parallel worlds, which became his great legacy for our fortune.
