TYPE it opened its doors at the end of June 2016 in Comitán #10 with the aim of being a space that would accommodate different artistic expressions of contemporary graphics; mainly encompassing illustration, urban art, tattoo and animation, among other forms of visual expression.
They have worked with a large part of the artistic community from different parts of Mexico and the world – creating a very special bond in Colombia – and over time they have become a cultural management studio with the aim of enriching the cultural scene and art from Mexico City and the world through exhibitions, art markets, workshops, events and more.
Among the artists that are part of the GAMA community are Gina Kiel, Sako Asko, Maldita Carmen, Vloke Negro, Vera Primavera, Evanfelino, Mariano Orell, Wina Obake, Pvlcro, Erre, Teck24, Fredelle, Toxicómano and many more. In reality, this little namedrop does not do justice to all the talent that has left its mark in this space.
Creating something new is difficult, with many ups and downs; however, GAMA is succeeding. This space has been the root from which other itinerant promotion, exhibition and sale projects have emerged, such as PlayFair, Cartoon Madness, Tránsito, Diabla Week and AURORA. Each one with its objectives, concepts and particular needs.
ENGINE, artistic combustions
GAMA is partying: they celebrate these first six years with activities in Mexico City and Colombia. The artist Damn Carmen will be in charge of giving life to the image of its sixth anniversary. From August 25 to September 11, they will have exhibitions, art sales, workshops and urban art interventions.
Here are some of the events with which they will celebrate their sixth anniversary:
Exhibition: ENGINE
The exhibition brings together artists with whom GAMA has cultivated strong alliances. These collaborations reflect the movement, the transformation and the power that arises from the set of forces in any project or process. In addition, they will have the participation of six international artists who, through serigraphy, will reflect each of the years of GAMA.
Exhibition: CARTOON MADNESS
Cartoon Madness was born from the hand of GAMA as one more exhibition of its calendar. However, the project became a favorite of its community, as there is nothing more fun than remembering the endless hours we spent in front of the TV. Thus we reach six years and for this reason this exhibition brings together the artists who have accompanied them in each exhibition.
Presentation: COLOMBIA RANGE
Collaboration has been one of the values that most identifies us, reaching links that have led to larger and larger projects. COLOMBIAN RANGE It is the result of the connection between two cultural scenes that have the objective of creating and strengthening support networks between Latin American artists, managers and collaborators.
As a presentation of this project there will be various activities from 8 to 11 September, such as: exhibitions, an art market, wall interventions, workshops and drawing sessions.
