El cat is one of the most common pets in our society, however, they have a mystery and independence that enchants.

They are not simple beings, perhaps that is where we find a certain similarity with our species.

Thus, some artists have inevitably fallen into making them part of their life and work.

Here are five examples of prominent men and their cats. 

 

Gustav Klimt (1862-1918)

 

The painter who was inextricably associated with symbolism was a great lover of felines, which is why he came to capture them in his works.

They were constant companions while he worked in his studio, where all the cats were free.

The French artist discovered his most human side thanks to his curious companions.

It is well known that he was fascinated by pigeons and goldfish, however, cats had a special place for him.

Among the most beloved were: Minouche, Coussi or La Puce.

The German creative grew up with these animals, so integrating them as part of his family was a natural.

They were a source of inspiration and this is not an idea on the air, he made around 28 works with them as the main theme.

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973)

 

Animals for Picasso were of the utmost importance, since this coexistence nourished him on different levels.

The Spanish artist had Lump, a dog that he adored, but Minou was a stray cat that he adopted and changed his life. It was in the blue period that he would meet him, the rest is history.

Andy Warhol (1928-1987)

 

The eccentric American representative of the pop art He came to live with 25 felines in his New York apartment.

He named them all Sam and his mother distinguished them according to color: black Sam, white Sam, anyway.
