Ertan Atay likes to play with the perception and, precisely for this reason, he fuses unexpected things into his collages, since its objective is to generate very diverse emotions in people.
Atay has always been interested in art and because of this he started drawing when he was very young. After high school, he stopped drawing altogether and started doing computer illustrations, which brought him new and very unexpected opportunities as he met a new world.
Years passed and he ventured, quite successfully, into the advertising industry. First as a graphic designer and then as a photographer to later focus on art direction.
But since Ertan Atay is fascinated by challenges, he decided to leave what he knew to venture into film production. It is because of this job that he began to follow many art accounts on Instagram and realized that the material they shared could be used for various purposes.
Thus, in 2017 he decided to open the call account “failunfailmefailun“in which he would share his emotions through curious collages to which he owes life to narrate a little about what was happening in his life.
His creations are fun, surprising, but sometimes also quite foreign. For Atay, there is nothing more pleasurable than when people from different countries feel the same emotion when looking at his creations.
His collages mix different eras and elements, from Van Gogh to Quentin Tarantino, thanks to his imagination jumping from one time to another. For Ertan Atay, the most important thing is the idea and then, of course, looking for a connection between the different characters and the objects to be assembled to make the collages.
Mona Lisa, Frida Kahlo and The Girl with a Pearl Earring in a scene from the mythical series Friends; Klimt's kiss in an iconic black and white photograph and Van Gogh in a contemporary fashion photograph are just some of the images that he creates in which his protagonists are artists from different fields, but who can coexist in his universe without much problem. .
Ertan Atay is definitely an artist with great potential, unsurpassed when it comes to creating a mix between the contemporary and the past in each of his collages.
