"10 years ago no one would have imagined ordering rosé wine in a restaurant, and yet more and more of us are looking for it in the menus," said my friend and businessman Nicolás Martín del Campo during a dinner paired with superb rosé wines from La Provence.

Rosé wines, long considered empty, simple and expressionless, are now arousing interest in Mexico, and are increasingly demanded by all types of public.

In wine-growing areas such as Valle de Guadalupe or Parras, references are elaborated before which one takes off the hat; yet they all give up when the wine brings french accent.

On the other hand, rosé wines are ideal to drink alone or accompany Mexican cuisine, spicy and intense, but it also serves to accompany other exotic dishes that are difficult to pair, such as ceviches and Nikkei tiraditos or Asian ones with teriyaki techniques and ponzu sauces.

In 2019, Berangere Contreau (director of the importer and distributor Cavas del Vino), bet with a firm hand on the wines of Cotes de Provence, and now he surprises us with others from Sablet.

While the importer Monarq, recently introduced in its portfolio AIX, a wine from Provence, ideal for these hot days that the lucky ones of Mexico City can enjoy.

Sommelier Gina Estrada also surprises with an elegant and unusual rosé from Valle de Guadalupe and the mythical Casa Madero V Rosé, which continues to be a favorite in restaurants.

That is why here we leave you a list with some of them. the best recommendations regarding rosé wines:

AIX (Grenache 60%. Syrah 20%. Cinsault 20%)

It is characterized by its floral bouquet and its pale pink tone with salmon sparkles. Herbaceous notes and a bitter finish that invites you to take another drink. Perhaps my favorite, because of its simplicity. Also, 2021 was a bumper crop in the area thanks to its excellent mild weather.

G&G by Ginasommelier Rosé (Zifandel. Syrah. Sangiovese)

Sommelier Gina Estrada and Gustavo Orteg, general director of Bodegas El Cielo, present this pale coppery rosé with aromas of peach and citrus. Without losing the characteristic strawberry of the rosés and the white rose, it is a balanced and tasty wine.

Casa Madero V Pink (100% Cabernet Sauvignon)

Delicate in sight, powerful in aromas, stand out the pink guava, nectarine, grapefruit, peach and sour strawberry. A fruity aromatic range that is repeated in the mouth, adding herbal notes. The personality of this rosé wine from Valle de Parras fits happily with dishes with a Mexican character and intense flavors such as huitlacoche.

Côtes du Rhône Rosé (Grenache Noir. Carignan. Cinsault)

The French region of the Rhône, Sablet, arrives in Mexico with this great rosé with orange tones with a fresh and accentuated acidity of red fruits, lavender and mineral notes. The elegance of its bottle makes it the perfect gift.
