From February 5 to 9, Zona Maco Mexico Contemporary Art opens its doors to new ideas and trends in the art world, offering visitors a distribution of five sections: Main, New proposals , Zona Maco South, Design and Modern Art.Each section is made up for a curatorship by recognized experts in their field. Galleries as Luis Adelantado, Arróniz Contemporary Art, Caja Negra, Dillon Gallery, Hilario Galguera, Gladstone Gallery, kurimanzutto, among others, gathered at the Centro Banamex in Mexico City. For the second time the modern art section is presented, however, this year opens the show of international modern art from the first half of the 20th-Century in a dedicated space to think about the context that generated the fundamentals of practices of contemporary art. For this, the curator Montserrat Albores Gleason, taken as reference breaking paradigms posed by the Société Anonyme, founded in 1920 by Katherine Dreier, Marcel Duchamp and ManRay. Zona Maco Sur meanwhile, was made by John A. Gaitán (Toronto, 1973), curator of the 8th Berlin Biennale 2014. The works in this section seek to assert the space of the artwork as a space for reflection on the community and the world or the community in the world. It is based on the diversity of ways in which the work of art indicates our ways of living and see the world and how they inform and transform our social, collective and political habits.
Thanks to all sections, new proposals, conferences and alternative activity, Zona Maco will become an indispensable learning of international contemporary art events.
