More than 212,000 paintings, signed by 37,000 artists as Botticelli, Van Gogh, Velazquez, Picasso, Hockney, among others, have been photographed and cataloged in the last decade by the digital museum “Your Paintings”, a project of the Public Foundation Cataloge currently headed by Andrew Ellis, and the BBC, which aims to bring together the artistic heritage of the UK in a large digital collection accessible to all audiences. This collection consists of works owned by the state, local government or public benefit foundations and works within universities, municipalities, hospitals and even paintings in the fire stations, zoos and lighthouses. This museum without walls is also defined by the interactivity, one that invites its users,
including 40 percent of foreigners, to reveal new information about the paintings cataloged and display them on social networks. This is the only website anywhere in the world collection of paintings illustrating an entire nation. The aim of the website is to popularize and democratize art and to educate and entertain.
