Mike Parrillo is a self-taught artist from Los Angeles, California, whose work has focused on graphic production for snowboards in the last 20 years. He has turned his artistic language into a plastic narrative with colors and concepts. Recently he entered the world of art with a collection of paintings entitled Reckless Optimism, composed of 16 pieces created since 2012. This series belongs to pop surrealism, represents the world’s perception of the artist, which goes beyond any stereotype.
The range of colors, among the predominantly metallic and fluorescent, was selected by Parillo. In addition to an emotion, every hue represents a way traveled by the viewer’s gaze, which can be interpreted as the choices we make throughout our lives. Forms symbolize our mind trying our conscious and unconscious state as equals.
