THE ART OF SCIENCE: MICROSCOPIC GLASS FLOWERS

Wim I. Noorduin studies his Postdoctoral in the prestigious Harvard University and his speciality is the Engineering and Applied Sciences. Despite years of studies, he never imagined that science could create impressive art works. The researcher mixed barium chloride and sodium silicate in a test tube with water, generating a chemic reaction, where boric carbon crystals were transformed into carbon dioxide. The result are beautiful figures with the shape of flowers. The images were taken with a special microscope which captivates the details of the composition.
