With about 75 awards, Rodney Smith is a photographer who specializes in surreal photographs in black and white, but also uses his lens to capture beautiful color images. His photographs have a nostalgic sense, as if we fought back to the past. His style is sophisticated, often with a touch of Magritte, and his compositions are based on the classic world of symmetry and balance. Most of his photographs were made during his travels by train through India, bike rides and walks through Paris.

Smith rejected the shallow world of fashion to study English literature and theology at the University of Virginia. Later, while doing a Masters of Divinity in Theology program at Yale University, met the renowned documentary photographer Walker Evans. Thus, Smith became a student of Evans and came to completely dominate the art of black and white photography. His work has been exhibited in major galleries in the world and has published three books on his photography.
