This beautiful theater was built in the early 20th-Century by the architect Luis Gutiérrez Soto. The site had several functions as a cinema, concert hall and space for meetings. In the 80’s had much boom because it was the only of its kind in operation, but because of its deterioration, it had to close in 1997. In 2009, the city council purchased the property and began repairs until its reopening conducted in 2011. The architect Rafael de la Hoz, holder of several awards, was asked to give new life to this historic site, the main hall has a capacity of seven hundred people, which remained like in the original. At the top of the building, where it was located before the summer movie (outdoor cinema), was built a multipurpose room for nearly three hundred people. This new construction is made as a “black box” that allows to have the scenario where it is required by the work.
