The British designer Thomas Heatherwick has announced the construction of a public park and a space for cultural events on the west side of Manhattan. Construction will begin in 2016 and will cost $130 million. The project will be funded primarily by the Diller-Von Furstenberg Family Foundation, that work hand in hand with The Hudson River Park Trust to develop the site. The project will create green areas on a sort of spring and will also have venues for concerts, plays, art exhibitions and community events. Most of these events will be free or minimal fee, which will be donated to non-governmental programs.
