About 250 employees of the National Gallery, one of the most important pictorial museums in London and the world, conducted a strike from February 3 to 7, according to information from the Public an Comercial Service Union (PCS). Unionized approved to strike with 94% of votes in favor last week.
The intent of this strike is to stop a plan that seeks to privatize services for visitors. “The privatization plan is irresponsible and runs the risk of damaging the reputation of the world’s one of the great cultural heritage of the United Kingdom”, said the union leader Mark Serwotka said in a statement. The union believes that the strike force close a large part of the rooms of this museum, which each year receives 6 million people.
