The Australian firm Lyons Architects presented its new project La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science located in the campus of University Bundoora, which aims to provide students merging the study and research of various scientific disciplines, besides transforming the identity and image of the campus which formerly was serious and strict.
Lyon Architects created a building, where the first level has laboratories for undergraduate students. The space is so large that holds up to 160 people. Downstairs, has spaces connected to the outside, which makes a more casual style. The top floor has open spaces, ie no doors between laboratories: a large room called Superlab divided with walls. In this space, a café and a joint informal lounge is also located.
The facade is one of the main features of this project, it seems that the building is covered by wood colors forming diamonds. Blue, white and red were used, mixed with the texture of wood for a rustic and contemporary style.
