Lori Nix’s work has a feature that distinguishes it from the rest from other photographers: she prefers to build her locations rather than searching them. Thanks to the creation of her own scenarios, Nix does not use digital manipulation, contributing to create unique dioramas, each one constituting a single challenge. Building materials, lights, fabrics and scaled spaces become more significant when they are on the surface of a table, bringing them to life, in her photos. Nix recognizes the influences of artists such as Thomas Cole, Asher Brown Durand and the Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich.
