LONGPLAYER: THE LONGEST SONG IN THE WORLD

Sometimes when we listen to very long songs and we are not in the mood, as “Californication” by Red Hot Chili Peppers, or “In a Gadda da Vida” by Iron Butterfly, we want to forward the following track. Now imagine a song longer than your time in Earth. It is “Longplayer”, a music project whose aim is to last one thousand years, one thousand years!  From January 1st, 2000 it is being recorded and will end on December 31st, 2999 and will never be repeated. “Longplayer” is transmitted from Trinity Buoy Wharf lighthouse, in London from a series of Tibetan bowls and elements as iron, silver, mercury, lead and tin, which are rubbed with wooden sticks, releasing peculiar vibes. “Longplay” was planned between 1999 to 1999 by Jem Finer (Artangel). In the book Longplayer, published by Artangel, you will find the treaty of this eternal melody.
