The ephemeral universe is a series of large format sculptures of artist Liang Binbin, made of bamboo and rice paper. Among the works (which are illuminated, from the interior, with white LEDs), are a heart, a car, a bear, a tower and some bones. The materials of the pieces and even their position, manifest a flexible sense, firstly rice paper denote frailty and moreover, bamboo expresses strength and firmness. The ephemeral universe was the first solo exhibition of Binbin and took place in Spain in the IVAM (Institut Valencià d’Art Modern) in 2012. Around each of the pieces is formed a luminophore, which evokes energy collisions, inviting viewers to find a metaphysical understanding.
