LEONORA CARRINGTON BREAKS RECORD IN LATIN AMERICAN ART AUCTION

 

The collection of the late Mexican collector Lorenzo Zambrano was auctioned at Sotheby’s NY and, despite expectations masterpieces raised the extraordinary amount of $17.6 million, breaking the record for a collection from a single owner in Latin America. The Temptation of Saint Anthony of Leonora Carrington was sold for $2.6 million; Towards the Tower of Remedios Varo, at $4.3 million. Thus, the works of these artists were the most desirable.
