As several contemporary illustrators, the artist Kemi Mai, based in the UK discovered her talent in digital illustration accidentally when purchasing a tablet. Taking elements from the aesthetics of fashion photography, and color filters, the visual proposal of this artist is consistent, despite using reference models with very different features. With noticeable influences recognized by the same artist as the fascination with light and typical color of James Turrell, messages illuminated by neon and LED of Tracey Emin and Jenny Holzer respectively, as well as air, diffused feeling characteristic of photos of Todd Hido and Rinko Kawauchi, the portfolio of Kemi Mai achieves a harmonious fusion without losing her personal touch, recognizable throughout her work.
