Besides being visually strong and interesting, the concept of the series Aporia by artist Lee Jung, relies far beyond. Based on the text of Roland Barthes, A Lover’s Discourse: Fragments, the piece analyzes the dilemma experienced by people in love. By falling in love, the beloved becomes a mystery so, people incessantly try to figure out the reasons of the feelings for that person looking for interpreting them. The desire to express this love produces lies and conflict that lead to a dead end that is love itself. By endlessly consuming trite words of love, the object of our affection will eventually become love itself rather than The Love. Words of love to be reiterated in the air, unable to reach anyone between the you and the I seem to ironically reveal the loneliness and sadness of people in contemporary societies.
