The artist Julia Margaret Cameron presents her wors in the Howard Gilman Gallery. Cameron (1815-1879) is one of the greatest portraitists of the history of photography. She mixed an unorthodox technique with a deeply spiritual sensitivity and Pre-Raphaelite aesthetic to create a vivid portrait gallery and a mirror of the Victorian soul. The exhibition features masterpieces, including portraits of characters known as the poet Alfred Lord Tennyson, the scientist Sir John Herschel, and the philosopher Thomas Carlyle. The exhibition of Julia Margaret Cameron is organized by Malcolm Daniel, curator head of photographs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
