The work of the Portuguese artist born in Paris Joana Vasconcelos, is a real challenge to perception. Her installations are huge and colorful pieces made from a specific selection of materials to create individual speeches. Her large-scale and colorful work, takes concepts of ready-made and pop art. Vasconcelo’s proposal is based on “appropriation, decontextualization and subversion of existing objects”, and no matter if they are in a museum or in the Palace of Versailles, they are inevitably seductive pieces and with asubversive power for appropriation of the space they occupy.
