The artist Joana Vasconcelos, based in Lisbon, reinterpreted one of the transports used by Marie Antoinette. In the 18th-Century, luxury was long, but not so much in terms of transport. People should use carriages, instead of a horse, to avoid a trip of 10 days. So, Joana Vasconcelos created the Lilicoptére to reinterpret that time. The basis of this design is a helicopter Bell 27, decorated with ostrich feathers, Swarovski crystals, industrial paint, gold leaf, dyed leather embossed with fine gold, arraiolos carpets, walnut, and painting wood. The Lilicoptére was exhibited at the Palace of Versailles in 2012. This model is not able to fly, but no one can deny that ornamentally is one of the most beautiful pieces in the work of Vasconcelos.
