The architectural studio Orproyect, based in London, designed a space inspired by nature called Vana for the Design Forum of India. The geometric installation consists of a surface in tension that hangs from the ceiling, and down to the floor as four columns of light. It is divided into triangular pieces connected by joints. Powered by LEDs shines through the vacuum and turn the site with a wraparound glow.
The project is based on a series of algorithms that digitally generate open and close patterns, which are used to simulate the natural texture of the installation. The systems consist of a set of points that grow and branch out to their destinations to maximize light exposure of each leaf. The geometry meets these requirements and provides a structural and adequate system.
