This film was released in 2003 as the adaptation of the book by Tracy Chevalier. It tells the story about the creation of the 17th-Century painting Girl with a Pearl Earring by the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. Little is actually known about the girl who served as a model for such famous work. Although no historical evidence has any, is rumored that was one of the maids who worked in the house of the Vermeer family. The film portrays the fictional life of Griet, this young mysterious girl transformed in muse.
