In November last year, the art world was shocked again with the sale of a painting, which exceeded the expectations of appraisers and collectors, being listed as one of the most expensive works in the history of the art market. This painting is neither more nor less than the triptych by artist Francis Bacon, Three Studies of Lucian Freud. The bid for this painting took more than ten minutes when the hammer finally fell, the amount offered was 142.4 million. Francis Bacon’s painting shows, as Gilles Deleuze explains in Francis Bacon: The Logic of Sensation, a reflection on the body, people isolated by a circle or track, hysterical smiles arising from the characters of each work, and emerge from an intense body. Bodies that deform before our eyes and not appear to be more than that, bodies and flesh.
