American Architects “Populous”, who designed the Olympic Stadium London 2012, and the Olympic Stadium Sydney 2000, and British consultancy Buro Happold Design, designed the Olympic Stadium Fisht. This stadium will be used for the opening and closing of the Winter Olympics Sochi 2014. It will be located within the Olympic Park near the Olympic Village in the Imereti Valley in the Black Sea resort of Sochi in Russia. Named after Mount Fisht, a peak of the western Greater Caucasus, located in the Republic of Adygea in southern Russia. Its shell-shaped design reminiscent of Fabergé art, will house 40,000 people. The walls and roof of this stadium will have a glass structure designed pair reflect sunlight. After the Olympics, the stadium complex will serve as a training center and venue for football matches. Fisht Stadium is one of the 11 host stadiums for the matches of the FIFA World Cup 2018.
