Desert Breath is an installation created in the Sahara desert by D.A.S.T Arteam (Danae Stratou, Alexandra Stratou and Stella Constantinides). Created in 1997, the idea came from the desire of the team to work in the desert, which, for them, represents a state of mind and infinity. With an area of 100.000m2, bordering the Red Sea in El Gouna, Egypt, the piece consists in the displacement of large quantities of sand to create spaces and tapered reliefs from a center, forming a spiral. This installation has 17 years, and the signs of deterioration, fading and its slow decay are a reminder to the visitors, about the passage of time.
