One of the most beautiful building in the world, according to a major specialized magazine, is the Hotel Santos Porta Fira. In 2010 it was awarded with the renowned architectural award “Emporis Award 2010”. The striking red façade, stands in one of the best areas of Barcelona, Spain. Designed by renowned Japanese architect Toyo Ito, famous as the author of the enlargement of the Fira Gran Via, Barcelona. The building has a height of 110 meters, so it is recognized by some as an icon of the city. The 24-storey building, has also 2 basements and a penthouse.
Toyo Ito belongs to a generation of architects classified within the Japanese new wave, as Tadao Ando Arata Isozaki or Kisho Kurokawa. He studied architecture at the University of Tokyo, where he graduated in 1965. In 1971 he founded his own studio. In his work there can be seen the influence of Arata Isozaki.
