In 2000 the Argentinean Alan Faena, the French designer Philippe Starck, and businessman Len Blavatnik started up Faena District, an urban and cultural concept, on the outskirts of Argentina’s capital. Faena is a project that integrates not only cutting-edge architectural design, but above all, the vision of art as life experience. Hence the first was to create a series of buildings that made possible this way of living spaces, giving rise to new urban epicenters. Initially, Faena consisted of a hotel, an arts center and a number of residences. After 14 years of its foundation, Faena District, in partnership with leading firms like Foster+Partners including several residential buildings in Argentina’s capital and also in Miami Beach; the restoration and reopening of the Saxony Hotel in Miami and art centers (Faena Arts Center) in both cities, which offer support for artists to develop stays and to prepare presentations; and finally, a web magazine (“Faena Alep”) that collects “small daily dose of inspiration”.
