British artist Storm Thorgerson died at age 69. Thorgerson was recognized for his excellent designs covers for bands major albums, among them Pink Floyd. Storm Thorgerson was born in Hertfordshire, England in 1944 and died yesterday, April 18, 2013. Storm was a graphic designer known, part of the artistic design group Hipgnosis (which also has Aubrey Powell and Peter Christopherson), developing designs for Led Zeppelin AC/DC, Peter Gabriel, David Gilmour, Dream Theater, Yes, Styx and other . Probably between the most aesthetic covers and audience favorite are the Pink Floyd “A Saucerful of Secrets”, “Dark Side Of The Moon” or “Atom Heart Mother”, no leaving behind the rest of his talented work. He also did solo work for Audioslave, The Cranberries, Scorpions, Biffy Clyro, Muse, The Offspring, The Mars Volta, Antrhax, Europe. Thorgerson also directed music videos and designed the covers of many other bands like Muse, Led Zeppelin, Styx, Peter Gabriel, Phish and The Cranberries. Guitarist and vocalist of Pink Floyd, Dave Gilmour, ever mentioned that Thorgerson’s work is inseparable from the work of the band.
