Like every year, the Franz Mayer Museum receives the 13th edition of the International Poster Biennial in Mexico (BICM, for its acronym in Spanish). Over 25 years, the BICM has become an undisputed international leader in the world of graphic design, something equivalent to the Guadalajara International Book Fair in publishing. The BICM is the most important poster show in Latin America, an exceptional event where meet together the most representative creative minds of design world, a space to know the work of other artists and exchange experiences between professionals, students and audience interested in the poster as a cultural and artistic expression.
Two years ago, the jury who select the winning posters in the four categories was formed by Alejandro Magallanes, Alvaro Espinosa and Karel Misek. This time, the jury will present Arnulfo Aquino, Nelu Wolfensohn, Antonio Castro, among other famous designers from Poland, France, Iran, Cuba and South Africa. The theme of unpublished posters for this year will be part of a campaign against food waste. The rest of the works will compete in the categories of cultural, political or advertising poster. The novelty of this edition is the opening of the category of animated poster. Finally, we must be aware of the conferences and lectures that will be held in Morelia, site of the World Design Congress, in the BICM cycle during late 2014.
